Annual 'Lights Out Houston' 2013

Facilities & Property Management (FPM) has been authorized by Commissioners Court to lead the effort and have Harris County, in conjunction with the City of Houston, the Greater Houston Partnership and Central Houston, Inc. participate in the annual ‘Lights Out Houston’ Program. This year’s Program begins Thursday evening, April 25, 2013 and extends through Sunday evening, April 28, 2013.

The objective of the Program is to encourage energy efficiency by obtaining a City-wide commitment from building owners, operators, and tenants to turn off non-essential lights overnight in conjunction with the national celebration of Earth Week. During this Program, security lighting, any obstruction lighting, emergency lighting, and lights in occupied offices will remain lit. Detention Facilities as well as any 24/7 Facilities are excluded.

FPM is committed to implementing energy efficiency measures and operating procedures that will lead to a sustainable reduction in electricity consumption at all Harris County Facilities.
